Rocío is a PhD student from Mairena del Alcor, Sevilla (Spain), specializing in Medieval and Early Modern Spanish Literatures. She completed her BA in English Studies at the University of Sevilla, and her MEd at UDIMA, before earning her MA in Peninsular and Latin American literatures at CU Boulder. Rocío is passionate about exploring gender and identity in literature. Her scholarly interests also include race and cultural studies. Rocío's doctoral work will focus on the work of early instances of female writers. More precisely, nuns who harnessed the power of writing as both an and a sanctuary for their silenced voices.
