The Spanish and Portuguese Department Spring Commencement Ceremony

General Univeristy commencement information

Students who completed the application for graduation in MyCUinfo for spring/summer 2024 graduation or those who graduated in the Fall 2023 semester were invited to the Spanish and Portuguese Department's Spring Ceremony.  Electronic invitations (e-vites) will be sent out at the end of Feburary 2024. RSVPs are received via this system to those students who have applied to graduate through their BuffPortal.

Reception to follow on the McKenna Languages Building Patio.

Keynote Speaker: Néstor Bravo

Néstor Bravo is a school Principal in Denver Public Schools, Colorado. Originally from Venezuela, he has been in the U.S. for the last 16 years, most of which have been in education with the past 10 years dedicated to school leadership. Néstor has led Instructional Teams from ECE through 12th grades, as well as the Athletic Department of a 4A Division High School. He is now in his 6th year as the Principal of the only K-5 Dual Language Elementary School in the southwest of Denver.
As well, Néstor is the recipient of the 2023 CO-CABE Bilingual Leader of the Year award and an Honoring Proclamation by the Denver Public Schools Board of Education.
Néstor is also a member of the 2023 Cahn Distinguished Principal Fellowship Cohort and is currently leading the opening of the only Dual Language Middle School in the southwest of Denver.
Néstor is a proud dad and husband. He is also a competitive Obstacle Course Race athlete, and Boston Marathon Finisher who loves functional fitness and trail running. He is passionate about the future of our society beyond classroom instruction. Character development, compassionate leadership, and collective responsibility for bettering our children's future are among his biggest motivations in educational leadership and life.
