Note that prerequisites for the program include sufficient Spanish knowledge to be admitted to 3000-level courses and sufficient knowledge of Portuguese to be admitted to 2000-level courses.

Not every course listed is offered each semester. Please click here for current semester course offerings.

Our major in Spanish and Portuguese Language and Culture consists of 32 credits. Within these 32 credits, you will need to complete the following PORT courses:

1. PORT 2110 or 2350

2. PORT 2120

3. PORT 3003 or 3220 or 3230

4. PORT 4000-level course

In addition, you will also need the following SPAN courses:

  •  SPAN 4170 or SPAN 4180

  •  3 more SPAN/PORT credits at the 3000 or 4000 levels

Since you have already completed 20 credits to become a Spanish minor, you may need only the 5 additional courses to become a Spanish and Portuguese Language and Culture major, depending on how many major requirements you already have as part of your minor.
